1. ALLOCATING A DATASET
  • Manuever to the Data Set Utility menu screen by typing in "3.2" on your option line.
  • Type in a captial "A" in your option line and DO NOT press CTRL yet.
  • Tab down to Project underneath "ISPF Library" and type in YOUR userID
  • Type in your desired GROUP name and TYPE name respectively
  • EXAMPLE:
Project . . .KC03K02
Group . . .MYPROG
Type . . . .COBOL
  • Press CTRL and it will bring you to the "Allocate New Data Set" screen.
    • PARTITIONED DATASET: to create this enter PDS next to "Data set name type"
    • SEQUENTIAL: Leave "Data set name type" blank and set "Directory Blocks" to 0.
